DESCRIPTION

GIGE Vision Camera – IMX487

The MER3 UV camera belongs to the UV GigE Vision series and features PoE capability. GigE is a widely used standard in machine-vision applications, especially when cable lengths greater than 5 meters are required. This Mercury 3 model is ideal when the following requirements apply:

  • Industrial UV imaging (200–400 nm)
  • Cable lengths up to 100 meters
  • Low-cost and easy cable installation
  • Single-cable connection (data + power via PoE)
  • Up to 2.5 Gbit/s data transfer rate
  • Ultra-compact housing: 29 × 29 mm

UV GigE Industrial Camera

The MER3-810-36G3M-P-UV is an industrial UV GigE Vision camera designed specifically for ultraviolet imaging between 200 nm and 400 nm. It is built around Sony’s IMX487 “Pregius S” CMOS global-shutter sensor, offering 8 MP resolution and a maximum data transfer rate of 2.5 Gbit/s.

The sensor uses high-UV-transmittance glass, UV-optimized on-chip lenses, and a special photodiode structure, resulting in:

  • High UV sensitivity
  • Low noise performance
  • Accurate, smooth imaging even with fast motion

 What is UV?

Ultraviolet (UV) light is part of the electromagnetic spectrum, positioned just outside the range of visible light. It has shorter wavelengths than visible light — between 10 nm and 400 nm — allowing us to detect information the human eye cannot see.UV cameras make this hidden information visible. By capturing light beyond the visible spectrum, they unlock a new dimension in machine vision, enabling inspection from an entirely different perspective. The IMX487 UV image sensor is engineered to operate within the 200–400 nm range, where UV light reveals material characteristics and surface details that conventional cameras cannot detect. As a result, industrial systems can identify features that were previously invisible — opening the door to smarter inspection and enhanced precision.

Industrial Camera with POE

Power over Ethernet (PoE) for GigE enables both power and data transmission through a single standard Ethernet cable. This simplifies installation and reduces cabling in applications that do not rely on hardware triggering or external I/O.For systems requiring I/O functions, it is recommended to power the camera through the I/O connector rather than PoE. When powered via PoE, the camera consumes slightly more power and produces additional heat due to internal power regulation.Despite this, PoE remains highly beneficial in many setups, offering faster and easier installation with fewer cables.

MTBF, Warranty & Product Life Cycle

Daheng Imaging produce yearly more than 1,00,000 industrial cameras according to the highest quality standards. The mean time between failure (MTBF) is more than 400.000 hours (45 years, 24/7). The industrial cameras are certified by TÜV Rheinland and have a 3 year warranty. After market introduction, every camera model is at least available for 7 years. Most cameras have even a much longer product life cycle.
