DESCRIPTION

GigE Vision Camera IMX264

The Mercury GigE camera series is a compact industrial vision camera featuring a GigE interface, the most widely used connection in conventional machine vision systems. It is offered in both PoE (Power over Ethernet) and non-PoE variants.

This model is well suited for applications that require:

  • An industrial-grade camera
  • GigE interface
  • Cable length up to 100m
  • Cost-effective and straightforward cabling
  • A single-cable setup when using PoE
  • Compact dimensions: 29 × 29 × 29 mm (non-PoE) or 29 × 29 × 38 mm (PoE)
  • Hardware triggering (requires an I/O cable)

I/O Port for Hardware Trigger / Strobe Control

  • The camera features an 8-pin HR25 Hirose connector, a widely used standard in the industrial machine vision market.
  • Input function: Can be used as a hardware trigger to control image capture.
  • Output function: Can trigger external devices such as industrial machine vision lights and turn on/off rejection signal.
  • Two GPIOs (General Purpose I/O): Fully programmable through our SDK for custom applications.
  • Documentation: Electrical diagrams for the I/O connector are included in the manual.

PoE (Power over Ethernet)

Power over Ethernet (PoE) for GigE allows both power and data to be transmitted through a single standard Ethernet cable. This simplifies cabling and shortens installation time, especially in setups where no hardware trigger or I/O is needed.

However, when an application requires I/O functionality, it is recommended to power the camera through the I/O connector instead. Compared to I/O power, PoE typically consumes more energy. Since the incoming PoE voltage must be converted to a lower level, the camera generates additional heat, which makes it run warmer.

A PoE-enabled GigE camera is also slightly larger than its non-PoE counterpart because it includes an extra circuit board for extracting and converting power from the Ethernet line. This added hardware also makes the PoE version more expensive than the non-PoE model.

Industrial Color camera

Color cameras use a Bayer pattern to create full-color images. Each pixel’s color value is calculated together with its neighbors, which makes the image less sharp compared to a monochrome camera. Because of the RGB filter, each pixel captures up to 66% fewer photons under white light, making color cameras less sensitive to light. This can be balanced by increasing light, gain, or exposure time, or by choosing a more light-sensitive sensor or lens.

Industrial color cameras, however, are designed with larger, more light-sensitive pixels than standard security cameras or webcams — giving you excellent image quality with rich detail and true-to-life color.

MTBF, Warranty & Product Life Cycle

Daheng Imaging produce yearly more than 1,00,000 industrial cameras according to the highest quality standards. The mean time between failure (MTBF) is more than 400.000 hours (45 years, 24/7). The industrial cameras are certified by TÜV Rheinland and have a 3 year warranty. After market introduction, every camera model is at least available for 7 years. Most cameras have even a much longer product life cycle.
